This chapter foretells the destruction of Babylon by the Medes (the “Liberators of Justice”) and the Persians (under the command of Cyrus- commissioned as a specialized task force for this purpose) who are expressly mentioned as the principal agents in the overthrow of the Babylonian monarchy.”

NEXT: In Revelation 13, John records the drama focusing in on two evil characters symbolized as a Water Monster and an Earth Monster. These symbolized the final corrupt political and religious leader (Anti-Christ) and the Kingdom of Babylon that would attempt worldwide prominence.

Barnes Commentary.- Deeply sensible that there is great danger of erring here, and that the above view may be viewed as mere conjecture, I cannot, however, help regarding it as the true exposition.
“And I will set among them a sign and I will send from them those who escape to the nations.” According to the interpretation suggested above, this refers to the portion of the Israelites (the posterity of Jacob) that should escape from the tokens of the Divine displeasure…a remnant would be saved. Of that remnant, God would send a portion to make His name known to those who had not heard it, and they would lead distant nations t others knowledge of His truth.

ISAIAH 30:25-26 “And shall be on every high mountain and on every lifted up hill, rivulets, steams of [reviving] water [of retributive measures of justice] in a day of great slaying [when human aspirations go beyond the limits of the law, in the day of great slaying] when towers fall. And the [reflected] moon light [of armed defensive combat necessitated through right and justifiable measure] shall be like the light of the sun [the law of the land in its going forth]; and the sun’s light [of divinely sanctioned retributive judgment upon the rebels- to re-establish the age old foundations] shall be sevenfold [in perfection of divine vengeance of the Almighty], as the light of seven days [when the prophecies are accomplished and has been summoned a bird of prey from a far off land to fulfill the purposes of Jehovah], in the day of Jehovah binding up the [violent] break of His people [through the forceful entry made upon them by foreign invasion], and the wound of His blow [the severe chastisement manifest in the bondage and captivity of His people He] heals.”

Henry Commentary (Paraphrased).- That some of the Israelite nation should, by the grace of God, be distinguished from the rest, and marked for salvation: I will not only set up a gathering ensign among them, to which the Gentiles shall seek, but there shall be those among them on whom I will set a differencing (distinguishing) sign; for so the word signifies. God will set apart a remnant of them, that shall be devoted to Him and employed for Him, and a mark shall be set upon them, with such certainty will God own them.

Note, those who themselves have escaped the wrath to come should do all they can to snatch others also as brands out of the burning. God chooses to send those on His errands that can deliver their message feelingly and experimentally, and warn people of their danger as those who have themselves narrowly escaped the danger.

(Post #20) A Sign

Isaiah 66:19 “And I (God) will set among them a sign and I will send from them those who escape [“from the tokens of the divine displeasure”] to the nations…”

Barnes Commentary.- A Sign. The word used here, and translated sign- means a flag, or a standard; a memorial, or any pledge, token or proof of a Divine mission, or a miracle wrought in attestation of a Divine promise or message. It was customary for miracles or prodigies (grave or serious prophetic events) to be exhibited on similar occasions.
What is its meaning here is to be determined by the connection. That would seem to me to require some such interpretation as this: That when God should come to take vengeance on His foes, and to manifest His glory, He would establish some mark or memorial; would erect some standard or give some signal, by which His true friends would escape, and that He would send them to distant nations to proclaim His truth and gather together those who had not seen His glory. What that sign should be, He does not here say. Whether a standard, a secret communication, or some intimation beforehand, by which they should know the approaching danger and make their escape, is not declared. It is by no means easy to determine with certainty on this passage; and it certainly become no one to speak dogmatically (inflexibly) or very confidently. The heavy judgments referred to may have been the impending calamities over Jerusalem.

{Study Notes} "The glory of God referred to, may have been the signal manifestation of His perfections at that period in the approaching destruction of the city, and in the wonders that attended the “manifestation” of the Messiah (the “Mighty God”)."

Barnes Commentary.- By these warnings and previous intimations they were to be preserved. The sign was “among them,” i.e., in the very midst of the nation; and the object of the intimation was, to secure their safety, and the speedy propagation (broadcast or circulation) of the true religion among them.

Henry Commentary (Out of Context – Paraphrased).- Perhaps Jacob retained such instances of idolatry and superstition, and had his idols in their gardens [the “one” he followed]. In the day of vengeance secret wickedness will be brought to light and brought to the account; for, I know their works and their thoughts. God knows both what men do and from what principle and with what design they do it; and therefore is fit to judge the world, because He can judge the secrets of men.

Bible Prophecy Ministry.- The world is drawing closer and closer to an affixed point in human history that shall catapult the whole world into the epic drama of the Great tribulation. That epic era is depicted in the life and times of the Old Testament patriarch Jacob.

Jeremiah 30:7 “Alas! for that day is great, (Tribulation era-Day of the Lord) so that none is like it: it is even the time of “Jacob's Trouble”; but he (Israel) shall be saved out of it.”

ISAIAH 14:1-2 “For Jehovah will have pity on Jacob, and will chose yet among Israel, and give them rest on their [home] land. And the alien [the non Israelite- the Gentile left helpless in the face of oppression- who of necessity relied upon others for justice, since they were not in a position to demand it, or mete it out themselves] shall be joined to them; and they shall cling to the house of Jacob [in the thick of the battle of life- for Jacob is in enemy territory and threatened by a hostile world]. And peoples [the Persians - "light bearers" of justice] shall take them and bring them to their place. And the house of Israel [whose very covenant safeguards the liberties of others] shall possess them [in an ethical sense] on the land of Jehovah for slaves and slave girls [as a people who meekly accept the law of the land, being ruled by the laws of a democratic society not the law of the jungle], and they shall be [in such a posture -socially restrained] captives of their [law enforcing] captors [restoring and maintaining the boundaries of the law], and [in such a social posture] they shall rule over their [lawless and cruel] oppressors [the ruthless Babylonians- a formidable political world power of underground organized crime- involved in a secret bid for worldwide domination - biding dominion through a the New World Order].”

Bible Prophecy Ministry.- The story in Genesis 32, in which Jacob wrestled with the angel of the Lord, is a prophecy of the final conflict, called “The day of the Lord.” As the father of the Twelve Tribes, he is central to the development of many Bible themes. The very course of his life foreshadows the future of his people, even to the coming dark night of the “Great Tribulation”. There are amazing similarities between his persona and the inner nature of national Israel. In and of themselves, the names of Jacob and Israel, literally define the people called by God to secure the land grant promised to his grandfather, Abraham.
Thus, the name of Israel means, “one who fights God and prevails.” Modern Israelis also point out that under the rules of Hebrew grammar, the name also means, “One for whom God fights and prevails.” Taken in turn, each of these name meanings represents the long history of Israel and its people.

Having passed through a long, dark night of personal tribulation, Jacob became Israel. In his struggle, he received both injury and blessing. Thus, he became the archetype for the future struggle of the nation of Israel. Israel's struggle had barely begun. It stretched out across the centuries to come, and even today, its culmination is still future to us. Once more, Israel will wrestle with the Lord for a blessing. Bible prophecy tells us that Israel will win that blessing, but not without a physical and spiritual struggle, and not without battle scars.

Jeremiah 30:3-7 "For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. “And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah. For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it."

In this scripture passage, we are reminded of Jacob's long dark night of struggle, when he wept, pleaded and fervently prayed through the night, all the while being embroiled in a physical contest with the angel of the Lord. Jeremiah is struck with the turmoil of this period, and describes it as being so startling that it looks like a physical impossibility. The nation of Israel will labor as a woman giving birth. Like their ancient patriarch, they will struggle to remain alive and realize the dream of bringing in the Kingdom. But, as Jeremiah says, Israel will be rescued from the turmoil in the end. -Bible Prophecy Ministry

Henry Commentary.- He (God) will appear to the comfort and joy of all that are faithful to Him in the setting up of His kingdom in this world, the kingdom of grace, the earnest and first-fruits of the kingdom of glory. The time shall come that He will gather all nations and tongues to Himself, that they may come and see His glory as it shines in the face of Jesus Christ. The church had hitherto been confined to one nation and in one tongue only God was worshipped; but in the days of the Messiah the partition-wall should be taken down, and those that had been strangers to God should be brought acquainted with Him and should see His glory in the gospel, as the Jews had seen it in the sanctuary. As to this, it is here promised, that some of the Jewish nation should, by the grace of God, be distinguished from the rest, and marked for salvation.

Calvin Commentary.- He (God) says that the time is at hand when He shall assemble all the nations, that He may cast off the hypocrites and ungodly, and gather and adopt a people to Himself from among them. The Jews were puffed up with pride, and despised all other nations as unholy. But the Lord declares that He will adopt those nations (as His), that they may be partakers of His glory, of which the Jews (ejectors of Jesus testimony) prove themselves to be unworthy.
This is a remarkable passage, which teaches us that God is not confined to any people, so as not to choose whomsoever He pleases, by casting off unbelievers whom He formerly called to Himself. Isaiah now threatens them in this manner. “Think not that God is in want of peoples when you have revolted and have rendered yourselves unworthy of His grace, for He will have others…

(Prophesy)

Mathew, Jamieson, Brown Commentary.- It shall come that I (Jehovah) will – the time is come that I will gather all nations – against Jerusalem, where the ungodly Jews [the “men of scorn” , the wolves who – having secretly joined themselves to the forces of the Anti-Christ] shall perish; and then the Lord at last shall fight for Jerusalem against those nations; and the survivors shall “see God’s glory”.

Isaiah 1:7-9 “Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers. The Daughter of Zion is left like shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a city under siege. Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.”

Isaiah 2:6-11 “You (God) have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob [into the palm of the enemy, the ruthless Babylonians]. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and clasp hands with pagans. Their land is full of silver and gold; there is no end to their treasures. The land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots. Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made. So man will be brought low and mankind humbled- do not forgive them.”
“Go into the rocks [places of lawful refuge and safety- in the times of invasion by the enemy- flee to safety from the danger]; hide in the ground [the shelter of the righteous abodes of man- until the danger has passed] from dread of the Lord [when in wrath He turns His hand from the face of the enemy- and allows the Babylonians to conquer the saints] and [find refuge in] the splendor of His majesty! The eyes of the arrogant man will be humbled and the pride of men brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.”

(Post #18) Wolves - Men of Scorn

ISAIAH 66:18 “For I (Jehovah) know their works and their thoughts- it [the “evil intentions and devices of the apostate”] comes to gather all the [different] nations and the tongues [those nations that differ from one another by their language], and they shall come [to this particular point and place] and see My glory [i.e., the exalted pristine holiness of the Almighty].”

Henry Commentary.- The sense is, that though their abominable rites were celebrated in the deepest recesses of the groves, yet they were not concealed from God. The sense is, that the period would come when Jehovah would collect all nations to witness the execution of His vengeance on His foes. “They shall come and see My glory,” that is, the manifestation of My perfections in the great events referred to here- the destruction of His enemies, and the deliverance of His people. It seems to me, that there is involved here the idea of the judgment or punishment on the enemies of God, and at about the same time a collecting of the nation… In some future time (from the date of this writing 1847 A.D.), Jehovah would manifest Himself as the punisher of His enemies, and all the nations also would be permitted to behold His glory, as if they were assembled together.

Oswalt Commentary.- This verse marks the transition to the final word of hope. Its form is difficult, but if the text it correct, the sense is that the evil works and the twisted plans of rebel humans will serve only as a foil for the greater revelation of the glory of God. (Paraphrased) The gathered people of the world, including ethnic (nations) and linguistic (tongues) groups, will see His power and His righteousness.
The message of God is not for the descendants of Jacob but for the world, and those of the world who respond to it are the true children of Jacob. The message has been given the Israelites as a trust to be proclaimed. It is not national election or cultic righteousness that makes people the servants of the Lord, but obedience to His word. From the very outset Israel is expected to be the means whereby the nations are drawn to the mountain of the house of the Lord to learn the Torah (the body of wisdom and law contained in the Jewish Scripture) of God.
When those who rely on God in humility are delivered from the hands of oppressors and aggressors, and stand up to possess the earth, then the world will know that God is the Lord indeed. This has already happened in part in the formation of the church. The Christians were despised and rejected, but God vindicated Himself through them, and the nations were drawn to the glory of God. So also at the end of all things, we may expect another such ingathering as the world sees the deliverance of the righteous and the judgment of the wicked.

ISAIAH 1:29-31 “For (they) [the law breakers employing the systematic use of terror to overthrow the government of God and kingdom of righteousness] shall be ashamed of the trees [symbolizing the abused qualities of strength, power, glory, wealth and honor] which you desired and you shall be ashamed of the gardens [the sites of idolatrous worship giving strength to injustice and oppression] you have chosen. For you [who trust in man and depend on flesh for strength- who turns his ear away from Jehovah] shall be like a tree whose leaf fades, and like a (parched) garden (in) which water [of blessing and prosperity] is not for it. And will be the strong [selling and betraying justice] for tow [as a wick- through which the force of adhesion draws up a steady supply of fuel to be burned], and his work for a spark [that sets off a sudden spontaneous burst of activity]; and they both shall burn together, and none shall quench them [in the day of the wrath of the Almighty God and vengeance of His temple].”

What is the Bohemian Grove? The Bohemian Grove is a 2700 acre redwood forest, located in Monte Rio, CA. It contains accommodation for 2000 people to "camp" in luxury. It is owned by the Bohemian Club.
Bohemian GroveWhat is the Bohemian Club? The Bohemian Club is a private. all male club, which is headquartered in the Bohemian building in San Francisco. It was formed in 1872 by men who sought shelter from the frontier culture (or lack of culture).
Who are the present members? The Club has evolved into an association of rich and powerful men, mostly of this country (there are similar organizations in other countries). Some artists are allowed to join (often at reduced rates), because of their social status and entertainment value. The membership list has included every Republican U.S. president (as well as some Democrats) since 1923, many cabinet officials, and director; & CEO's of large corporations, including major financial institutions.
What industries are represented among the members? Major military contractors, oil companies, banks (including the Federal Reserve), utilities (including nuclear power), and national media (broadcast and print) have high-ranking officials as club members or guests. Many members are, or have been, on the board of directors of several of these corporations. You should note that most of the above industries depend heavily on a relationship with government for their profitability.
What activities take place at the grove? The grove is the site of a two week retreat every July (as well as other smaller get-togethers throughout the year). At these retreats, the members commune with nature in a truly original way. They drink heavily from morning through the night, bask in their freedom to urinate on the redwoods, and perform pagan rituals (including the "Cremation of Care", in which the members wearing red-hooded robes, cremate a coffin effigy of "Dull Care" at the base of a 40 foot owl altar). Some (20%) engage in homosexual activity (but few of them support gay rights or AIDS research). They watch (and participate in) plays and comedy shows in which women are portrayed by male actors. Although women are not allowed in the Grove, members often leave at night to enjoy the company of the many prostitutes who come from around the world for this event. Is any of this hard to believe? Employees of the Grove have said that no verbal description can accurately portray the bizarre behavior of the Grove's inhabitants.
Besides this type of merriment. the annual gathering serves as an informational clearing house for the elite. The most powerful men in the country do their "networking" here, despite the Grove's motto "weaving spiders come not here" (don't do business in the Grove). At these gatherings men representing the government, military-industrial, and financial sectors meet and make major policy decisions. The Manhattan project, which produced the first atomic bombs, was conceived at the Grove in 1942. Other decisions made at the Grove include who our presidential candidates will be. There are speeches, known as "Lakeside Talks", wherein high-ranking officials disseminate information which is not available to the public-at-large.
What are the topics of discussion at the Lakeside Talks? What's not right about this? When powerful people work together, they become even more powerful. The Grove membership is wealthy, and becoming more so, while the middle class is steadily becoming poorer. This close-knit group determines whether prices rise or fall (by their control of the banking system, money supply, and markets), and they make money whichever way markets fluctuate. They determine what our rights are and which laws have effect, by appointing judges. They decide who our highest officials shall be by consensus among themselves, and then selling candidates to us via the media which they own. Important issues and facts are omitted from discussion in the press, or slanted to suit their goals, but they are discussed frankly at the Grove. Is there true democracy when so much power is concentrated in so few hands?

Isaiah 66:17 “Those who sanctify themselves [to be blessed- as “Mighty God’s”- as the first fruits to God and the Lamb] and [in addition who] purify themselves to the gardens [for ablutions, as ones consecrated and approved- free from sin], behind (each) one [of their supreme gods, are hands given to injustice and oppression] in the midst of eaters of flesh of the swine [symbolizing things that are held as heathenish and abominably wicked rituals] and (are in the midst of) the hateful thing [of desolating abominations], and the mouse [the nibblers, threatening the gain crops and spreading disease- problems in society]- together they are cut off,’ states Jehovah.”

As Gaebelein wrote, “It should be remembered that it is possible to consecrate [dedicate] oneself to a false god.” Knowledge of the true God becomes imperative to avoid such a dilemma. The first order of business is to be fully versed in the doctrine and knowledge of God. The hatred of evil is a major step towards the discovery of the divine will and wisdom underlining the Holy Scripture.
Religion that hopes to offset the consequence of sin through an “iniquitous guilt offerings” is as disgusting to God as rank idolatry. It is not pleasing to God, but is as abhorrent as being spiritually nourished with that which is a deliberate and offensive insult to the holiness and moral purity of a righteous God- and is as displeasing as taking spiritual nourishment from lawlessness and spreading the plagues of sin and moral impurity. “That action of sanctification which should lead to holiness before the one true God can thus be turned into a preparation for the service of the evil.”

“Those who sanctify themselves [to be blessed- as “Mighty God’s”- as the first fruits to God and the Lamb] and purify themselves to the gardens”, are those that are following “one”, i.e., some idol. Following their idol, they lead the rest into performing, heathenish & Abominable rites…in the midst of the gardens.


Oswalt Commentary.- But God’s word- on all of that, is one of unreserved judgment. Far from commending such behavior, God labels it as only one more form of rebellion, the more pernicious because it is so effectively masked.

The deception characterizes an old man offering guidance and support to would-be students with the phrase “Let me be your friend and guide, your paraclete- your comforter and counselor”.

From the underground source the “Comforter and Counselor” looms and it become unclear to the “mice” if their guide is a man or an entity crafted by an underground political party. In the propaganda, however, the “counselor” is presented as a real person; one of the founders of the party. A spontaneous ritual of devotion is shown to the “Counselor” by the entire group, through curiously savage acts and of the deliberate drowning of conscious to the will of the “Counselor”. Whereby the “mice” leave the Ministry of Truth to become loyal subjects of their beloved “Counselor”, after having undergone a rigorous campaign of inflicting torture, creating the most extensive personality cult of all time.
This cult personality will arise when the country’s leader uses mass media to create an idealized and heroic public image, through unquestioning flattery and praise.

A NOTE OF CAUTION AND WARNING (Food For Thought)

A personality cult is similar to general “hero worship”, except that it is created specifically for political leaders. In similar fashion the “Anti-Christ” will be held in enormous reverence as one said to hold office by the will of God, as a god-king.
Generally, personality cults are most common in regimes with totalitarian systems of government, one of totalitarian rule where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible. Ultimately, the system of government will allow the ordinary citizen to have no significant share in state decision-making and ideology. The regime will maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and social belief disseminated and spreading through the state-controlled mass media.

The regime of such a cult will maintain themselves in political and economic power, first by the means of mass surveillance of the people and then through widespread use of state terrorism. Firstly, there will appear a charismatic leader on the scene- as one associated with revolutionary transformation. He will be viewed and treated as a benevolent “guide” for the nation, without whom the transformation to a better future cannot occur.

In such a fantasy imagery, the “Mice” could be viewed a “little brothers” gathered within an elusive congregation of people.
In such a secret, yet unseen society, everyone would seem to be under compete surveillance, mainly by the “mice.”

Hebrew Dictionary.- “akbar”; prob. From the same as “akkabiysh” from an unused root in the lit. sense of entangling; a spider (as weaving a network), in the second sense of attacking; a mouse (as nibbling).

The Mouse.- In ancient Israel the small rodents (an unclean “swarming thing” often infesting dwellings) were deemed unclean for food while living, and defiling to the touch when dead. The concern was evidently a hygienic one, since infectious disease could be spread by contaminated containers or polluted food, and perhaps also caused agricultural problems.

The Bilderberg Group (Web Source Paraphrased)
I´ve read a few bits and pieces now about the Bilderberg Group. It is a group which organises meetings for wealthy and powerful people once a year in different locations across the world. People on both the far left and the far right seem to believe that there is more to it than that, they claim that it is the meeting of the secret rulers of the world, a meeting where wars are started and presidencies are decided on.
The group has an impressive list of attendee´s which includes many former and present heads of state and a raft of wealthy business despots. The organisation promotes capitalism, and claims to have no dark secrets.
Realistically I don´t think the Bilderberg Group sit around and vote on new leaders or decide whether to have wars, I don't think it is as organised as that [being only puppet players of the multitudes, nations and languages under the sway of the Great Harlot- the center of a formidable political world power of underground organized crime]. I'm sure individuals make deals of various types in order to feed their greed for money and power but I don´t see them all round a table in black robes ordering their minions to start a war. The depressing thing about it is the obvious ease with which a rich person with business interests can gain access to the ears of elected officials. The unelected business tycoons have a strong influence on our politicians and they are only interested in increasing their own profits. While ordinary citizens may never get the chance to give their elected politicians their opinion on the world and the way forward, rich foreign businessmen can command their polite attention for a whole weekend provided there is some nice food, accommodation and of course golfing facilities on offer.
I think the truth is far less exciting (than demented conspiracy theories offer) but not really any less dangerous. With the hailed victory of capitalism over communism and the rampant growth of "globalisation" people have become confused, mistaken in the belief that wealth entitles you to power, especially political power. The tycoons need political influence to protect their privileged positions and they try to sell the public on the "anyone can make it big" lie. The reality is a continued polarisation of wealth, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and the Bilderberg Group will just accelerate the process [merely a stepping stone for the deviously demented political ambitions of the Anti-Christ’s bid for a one world government].

In Isaiah 14:12 Lucifer is called the son of the morning. But Jesus is referred to as both the day star and morning star.

Henry Commentary.- God calls every one to witness to the declarations here made. This book (Revelation), thus kept open, will have effect upon men; the filthy and unjust will be more so, but it will confirm, strengthen, and further sanctify those who are upright with God. Never let us think that a dead or disobedient faith will save us, for the First and the Last has declared that those alone are blessed who do His commandments. It is a book that shuts out from heaven all wicked and unrighteous persons, particularly those who love and make lies, therefore cannot itself be a lie. There is no middle place or condition. Jesus, who is the Spirit of prophecy, has given his churches this morning-light of prophecy, to assure them of the light of the perfect day approaching.

What does it mean- “Sacrifice to God Thanksgiving”?

PSALM 50:23 “He who sacrifices [giving an offering of] thanks glorifies Me, and he who sets a way [who fulfills his vows in the great assemble before those who fear God], I will show him the salvation of God.’”

The purpose of the “thank offering” was to render an expression of thanks for deliverance or blessings granted. Emphasis was thereby given to God’s acceptance of the worshipers with a right attitude.

PSALM 22:25-26 (Psalm Attributed to Jesus) “From You (Jehovah) comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear You will I fulfill my vows. The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the Lord will praise Him- may your hearts live forever!”

The Vow – (God’s Will Be Done) “Lord, You have assigned me my portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure. VOW.- A vow is a promise to make a concrete payment to God. Such a vow merges into the “Thank Offering” for the acknowledgement of the divine favors.

Matthew Henry Commentary (Paraphrased).- God is here dealing with those (the Jews) that placed all their religion in the observances of religious ceremony and thought those sufficient.
God laid down the original contract between Him and Israel, in which they had avouched (declared) Him to be their God, and they to be His people, and so both parties were agreed: “Hear, O my people! and I will speak.” Note, it is justly expected that whatever others do, when He speaks, His people should give ear; who will, if they do not?
Let us thankfully accept God’s mercy, and endeavor to glorify Him in word and deed.
Let us also remember, that the Lord requires us to reverence His name, His truths, His ordinances, and commandments. Let us beware of hypocrisy, and examine ourselves concerning our sinful defilement's, seeking to be purified from them in the blood of Christ.
Nor can the minister who loves the souls of the people, suffer them to continue in this dangerous delusion. He must call upon them, not only to repent of their sins, and forsake them; but to put their whole trust in the atonement of Christ, by faith in His name, for pardon and acceptance with God; thus only will the Lord make them holy, as His own people.

In the day of distress we must apply to the Lord by fervent prayer. Our troubles, though we see them coming from God's hand, must drive us to Him, not drive us from Him. We must acknowledge Him in all our ways, depend upon His wisdom, power, and goodness, and refer ourselves wholly to him, and so give him glory. Adam Clarke Commentary.- His suffering, which included his death, led to life (his resurrection). Satisfied that his substitutionary work was completed. He now can justify (declare righteous) those who believe.

Gaebelein Commentary.- The guilt offering may have special overtones of completeness for it involved restitution as well as an offering to God. Nothing then remained to be done; the work was complete.

Spurgeon Commentary.- The elevation of the church is her beauty. The more she is above the world the fairer she is. “The joy of the whole earth is Mount Zion.” Jerusalem was the world’s star; whatever light lingered on earth was borrowed from the oracles preserved by Israel. An ardent Israelite would esteem the holy city as the eye of the nations, the most precious pearl of all lands. Certainly the church of God, though despised of men, is the city, the place of His regal dwelling, and it is the joy of the church that God is in her midst. The great God is the great King of the church. The people among whom the Lord deigns (stoops) to dwell are privileged above all other; the lines have fallen unto them in pleasant places, and they have a goodly heritage.
